The American fashion designer, and Project Runway judge, Zac Posen, has recently just added himself to the list of designers who refuse to dress Ivanka and Melania Trump.
No, this isn’t just completely politics this time, this one is a bit personal. Posen and the Trump ladies have had a few fashion friendly exchanges amongst one another in the past.
Here, Ivanka can be seen photographed with Posen at a luncheon at Bergdorf Goodman back in May of 2007:
And then in 2015 Ivanka wore this flamin’ red number, designed by Posen himself, to the White House Correspondent’s Dinner:
Melania, although their interaction may not have been nearly as recently, showed her support for Posen, alongside her mom, at his 2004 runway show:
But regardless of his past support from the first lady and the first daughter, Posen explained in an article for Allure that his issues with Trump’s Administration specifically arise from their policies on equal rights.
He explained: “There are issues that are being questioned that are fundamentally upsetting to me—deeply: LGBT rights, immigration, funding for the arts, Planned Parenthood, and women’s rights,” he said. “These are just issues that are very close to my heart, and I use my own private voice and funds to fight for them and in support of them. I think it’s important to use your voice. I think that every brand and person has a right to be vocal.”
