Last week two major department stores dropped Ivanka Trump’s fashion line following her fathers travel ban on Muslim’s and this week social media users are pressuring Macy’s to do the same.
According to an online article from The Christian Science Monitor, one Facebook user went as far as saying, “I have been a loyal Macys customer for over 30 years, but I will no longer purchase anything from Macys until they stop selling Ivanka Trump merchandise.”
Other department stores, such as Saks Off Fifth for example, have chosen not to completely drop the brand, just majorly discount it, with nearly every item from the Ivanka Trump line marked down by 50% or more.
Even previous customers have decided from home that they want no association with the brand themselves and have turned to online sellers such as eBay to rid their closets of the Trump name.
This eBay listing above shows a brand new bag from Ivanka’s line that was originally purchased for nearly $400, listed at $54.
If there is one thing that has become evident it is that the public is determined to demonstrate they are voting with their wallets, no matter how many times Nordstrom’s and Neiman Marcus claim these decisions “aren’t politically related.”
